BODYCAM: Officer Shoots Man Hiding Behind Mattress

March 3, 2017

From the Courier-Journal.com:

Three Louisville Metro Police officers have been named as those involved in Wednesday’s shooting of 38-year-old Bruce Warrick in an abandoned Russell neighborhood home.

Warrick remains in critical condition after he was shot in the abdomen in the 2600 block of Magazine Street. He underwent surgery Thursday to remove organs and is on a ventilator in the intensive care unit of University of Louisville Hospital awaiting further surgeries.

The body cam footage shows a man standing behind a mattress that is propped up against a wall. The officer tells the man to show his hands, and then almost immediately fires one shot.

The officer who fired the shot has been suspended while the department investigates the shooting. The other two officers present have not been suspended.
