A man holding a child threatened to shoot nursing center employees Tuesday and led responding officers on a foot chase through the building, Covington (Ky.) Police said.
Luke Gamble, 22, of Covington made the threats following a domestic dispute with an employee of Providence Pavilion, a nursing community located on East 20th Street, police said. Officials said Gamble became agitated after his domestic partner refused to speak to him.
“Officers on scene confirmed through a witness that the man was inside with the child in his arms,” Assisant Chief of Police Brian Steffen said in a news release. “In the interest of the immediate and very serious public safety concern presented, the decision was made to enter the building without delay and confront the suspect.”
Gamble ran from officers while still holding the child, leading officers on a foot chase throughout the building, police said.
