A Rock Hill man was charged with drunken driving after crashing his truck into a parked York County patrol car this weekend.
The deputy was sitting in his patrol car in the roadway median when the other vehicle crashed into his vehicle, said Trent Faris, a York County sheriff’s spokesman. The patrol car did not have its blue lights on.
Cortez, his passenger and the deputy were taken to Piedmont Medical Center, Miller said. Both were wearing seat belts. Faris said the deputy suffered minor injuries.
Takeaway:
The deputy and driver were wearing their seat belts. We know that many officers choose not to wear their belt and our culture doesn’t value it. This video is a good reminder to wear your belt. It may have saved the deputy from more critical injuries or even death.
