35 Years, Going Strong!

November 13, 2014

I can’t believe I’m saying it: Calibre Press is coming up on 35 years of service.

As a rookie in the early 1980s I came across our founder Chuck Remsberg’s book, Street Survival and I was mesmerized. I was reading stuff I’d never even considered before. It changed my entire perspective about officer safety for the rest of my career.

Soon after publication there was demand for live lectures, which led to the creation of the groundbreaking Street Survival Seminar. It’s still going strong! Today, Calibre Press offers more than a dozen different courses, presented close to 200 times in 2014 to nearly 20,000 law-enforcement professionals. I’m humbled, honored and blessed to be both an owner and a member of an instructor cadre that serves our profession with remarkable foresight.

Our seminar philosophy now is about more than just street survival, it’s about the 24/7- 30year career of law enforcement officers. Surviving emotionally, physically and financially at home is also a focus. Check out our seminar calendars here as well as our instructors and see if there’s a fit. It might change your life.

I recognize that we’re all inundated with emails these days. But not every email is created equally. Our brand-new Newsline—you’re now reading the fourth since our launch last month—is a free service to law enforcement that we are producing in-house. The same passion and truth-telling you expect from our seminars is now being delivered to your inbox. We hope for them to at least be “complacency busters.”

We are very excited about the impact Calibre Press is having and the direction we’re going. As a company, we stand on the shoulders of giants—Chuck Remsberg and Denny Anderson—who shook the police establishment in 1980 when they got this all started. Quality police training is the surest antidote to complacency, and that’s still our mission.

Onward, and thank you for your service!
