I know you hear this all the time but YOU SAVED MY LIFE!! I am sure that by the lessons learned in those two short days, I picked up enough to keep me aware and alert on the street, which will eventually keep me out of a sling. I have to be honest, midway through the second day, I was trying to figure out what else my college degree was good for, as I wasn't sure if this cop stuff was for me. It killed me to see my brothers gunned down right before my eyes, whether it was their own fault or not. Now here I am, the night before going back to night shift, and my first shift back on the street since the seminar, and I have never been so gung-ho to get back to work. I have already changed so many bad habits I had and have already begun getting my head on straight, like the "It Won't Happen To Me" theory. I have purchased the Gift of Fear and plan on reading it, along with the others in the Calibre Press catalog. Thank you so much for everything.
The seminar is a must for all officers! It taught me things about body language that they never touched on in the academy. Thanks again and I'll see you next year!
This is a very eye-opening class that every officer should see. This should wake up every police officer and department to keep their officers fit and tactically aware.
The seminar and instructors were excellent! The information was quite informative and useful. As a supervisor and manager, I will be sending deputies in the future to attend this seminar. Good use of Power Point presentation. Overall rating, outstanding!
I would like to take this time and thank your staff for the GREAT SEMINAR that you held in Charleston, WV. All of your instructors showed us a new light to law enforcement. I really like how you never said we have to do things your way, you show us many ways for us to try and see if it works better. I can promise you I will be at your next class when it comes to a tri-state area. Thank you again for all the great training.
In October of 1997 I attended one of your Street Survival Seminar in St. Petersburg, Fla. It was very educational, provocative, and eye opening. One item I got from the seminar was a little plastic card titled 'Positive Self Talk' with the other side having tips for getting through the first night after a critical incident. This card remained tucked in the headliner of my cruiser for the next six years. While waiting with my lawyer to be interviewed by homicide detectives, the state attorneys office, and our internal affairs detectives, in police headquarters on May 8, 2003, I requested a friend to retrieve that card for me. A few hours earlier I had been ambushed inside an old water tower by a madman with a spear trying to kill me. My backup from outside and I fired on and killed the man. I read the card before the interviews and practiced the calming techniques. Though this was a clean shot; I know how things can be twisted and go wrong. Your card helped me get hold of my feelings, and though shaking on the inside, appear calm on the outside. Thanks for the great survival seminars you bring to our state and helping us stick together and be safe as a law enforcement family.
I recently attended one of your three-day classes in Sioux City and found it to be the best training I have received in my 8 years of law enforcement. Keep up the great work.
Great seminar! I learn so many new things every time I attend. Great information and I particularly was impressed with the terrorism section.
I appreciate the efforts of all involved with this training. The use of up to date statistics, terminology, and tactics shows professionalism and that the trainers are serious about what they teach. Thank you for the professionalism and sincerity.
I just attended a two day Street Survival Seminar, held in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 16 & 17, 2004. I have been a police officer for 18 years and I am the department's training coordinator. I have always heard about the Calibre Press seminars, but never attended one due to the cost. I am with a small agency and our training fund is not that great. I have to say that I was very impressed. I walked away from the seminar with a new outlook on my life and my career. I was "in the routine" and have been so for a long time. Thank you for waking me up. The seminar was great and I would love to attend more of them.
Thank you and Calibre Press for the opportunity to attend the Street Survival Seminar last week. It was a real wake up call for me. Every Officer that cares about their family should attend and every family that cares about their Officer, should make them attend. The lesson is that important.
You guys are great. I made it a practice in my old departments (x2) to require Street Survival training as a mandatory training requirement for all my commissioned officers, to be repeated every 3-5 years. I intend to do the same thing here. It is vital training and should be required by every Law Enforcement agency, in my opinion.
An excellent program as always! This is the fifth Street Survival seminar I have attended. It is an excellent jump start that allows me to remember my survival instincts when I have been back in the field for awhile. It has helped me on survival encounters on the street to see clues that allowed me to prevent trouble before it occurred. Thanks for helping me stay safe. As a training officer I make sure I mention your program to all the new recruits that come to my department. I also use your tips in their training. Well done! I had the opportunity to attend the Street Survival Seminar this past week in Atlantic City. I have been a Police Officer for 30 years and this is the first SSS I have attended. I have sent all my officers to previous SS training. The instructors were SUPERB, the training was SUPERB and I plan to bring my wife to at least one day of the seminar next year.
Excellent seminar!! This seminar brought back many instances that we all take for granted. Thank you!! Even for an old guy like myself, the subject matter, events, and videos were greatly appreciated. Again, thank you and I will take my second career more seriously because of your training. [30+ years in LE retired as a Deputy Sgt., currently working as PO II.]
Excellent program! Dave and Jim present the material in a way to keep your undivided attention. All new and veteran officers should be required to attend. I know that I will be changing my habits on the street.
I have attended this seminar numerous times, starting from the early 80s. I have to say the new format [2005 Seminar] and content is the best ever. A majority of the material is new, the instructors are top notch and the additional entertainment to the seminar, keeps you more attentive to the subject matter. The seminar is streamlined and gets to the point. Thank you again for such a great seminar and hope to see you next year.
As a 31 year (veteran-on the job) police officer (Lt.) and three time attendee, I believe that all officers should attend this seminar. We often become complacent in our job and as a boss I constantly remind my fellow officers to be consistent and prepared for anything. I remind them so often that they think that I am a pain in the ass. Today, however, one of the officers that I am responsible for was at this seminar, thanked me, and it brought everything that I have said to home.
In 5-1/2 years this class really focused on the most important part of law enforcement, more than any other training I've had; having the winning mind set. Both instructors did a fabulous job making their points. Instructors of DT, etc. are great too, but in order to use those tactics you need to have the mind set to get through it. Fabulous class, I'm glad that my partners and myself were able to attend. It for sure saved one of our lives!
In one word - NECESSARY! All officers, veterans and rookies, in any department (large or small), can benefit from this seminar. I am a four-year-rookie at a relatively small department, and I can't wait to get back to my department and try to revamp our training to address real-life issues discussed at this seminar. The instructors are experienced, knowledgeable, engaging, and entertaining. I have re-assessed my abilities and realized my deficiencies, and will train and re-train so that WHEN a situation turns bad I WILL WIN! Thanks Calibre Press, Good Job!
Wonderful Class! A must for all officers from 1st day officers to 30 year veterans. Great wake up call for officers who might have fallen into the every day laid back life on and off duty.
