Timothy M. Goergen is a police officer serving as the Chief of Police for the Village of Bloomingdale. A police officer since 1980, Tim has held a myriad of different roles within his department, to include Patrol Officer, Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Watch Commander, and Patrol Division Commander.
While working with the Bloomingdale Police Department, Tim has had the opportunity to develop and instruct many in-house training programs. Tim has held the positions of Assistant Range‑master, Defensive Tactics Program Coordinator and Team Leader of the department's Tactical Response Team.
Educationally, Tim was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University in 1981, with a double major in Law Enforcement and Sociology. In 1994 he completed a Master of Arts degree from Western Illinois University in the area of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. Tim has also completed postgraduate work in the field of Challenge Education. He is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy (172nd session) and the Northwestern University Traffic Institute Executive Management Program.
Tim is also the founder of Hill'N'Ash, Inc., a management consulting firm. During his tenure at Hill’N’Ash, he served as a consultant to many public and private organizations across the country. He is a coauthor of the course Leadership Development for Front Line Supervisors developed for the Police Training Institute at the University of Illinois, and helped develop and deliver the North East Multi-Regional Instructor Development Course and High Impact Roll Call Training Course. Tim has presented workshops on Team Building and Leadership Development to many organizations, to include the American Public Works Association, American Water Works Association, Illinois Library Association and the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers.
Tim has also served two tours of duty in Iraq as a private contractor. Tim was asked to join the First Team that traveled to Iraq in the summer of 2003 to help reconstruct the Baghdad Police Academy where he acted as the Assistant Director of the Baghdad Police Academy. On his second tour in the spring of 2004, Tim was assigned as the Bureau Chief of Professional Development Programs for advanced police training programs for the country of Iraq.
